Sorry to have been AWOL for this past month. Truth be told, I've completely redone my ancient kitchen...new paint, beadboard siding in the utility room and kitchen, tile blacksplash, replaced electricial plates...the whole enchilata as far as a kitchen "redo". This Texas heat has also thrown me (and some of my local artist friends) into the grand "funk" of the world as this 47 straight days of 100 to 106 degree weather (with no rain in sight) has played with my head.
So, to escape this I'm leaving this Saturday to join a wonderful group of artists I've met on the internet (Painting Friends) for a week of painting, bonding and fun near Clearwater, Florida. Most of the artists have not fooled around with crystal, so I'm going to have them endure a crystal/strawberry demo on one of the days...it's my real passion so we'll see how it goes. There will be around 15 of us I think, and we'll be strolling the sugar sand beaches morning and evening and painting during the day. Doesn't that sound like a wonderful carefree week for artists? We have artists on the forum for Europe and we'll be skyping during the day and wishing they could have joined us. We do have one gal coming from Madrid, Spain...the rest are from all over the US. I'll try to get some photos of the fun posted...I think there will be several laptops there...not from yours truly though...so...will be back in a week if I don't get anything posted.
Mollie, your crystal bowl and cherries are absolutely stunning! How I wish I could attend the Painting Friends get-together!
ReplyDeleteI have complained daily about the heat this summer, but we have had nothing like your temperatures of 100-106! Enjoy the Florida beaches!
Thanks so much, Christiane. I've been checking in with your blog, but just "lurking". Love your green orchid that you've just finished. Wish you were running away from the heat with us.
ReplyDeleteMollie, the bowl w/ strawberries ..WOW!! beautiful! I love it!!
ReplyDeletei know you will have a blast! can't wait to hear all about it! and maybe you can teach me how to do crystal!! stay in touch!
Mollie your demo piece looks fantastic. I hope you have a glorious time in Florida.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time - sounds like our yearly retreat with 6 artists! And you can't go wrong in Clearwater! We used to go to Madeira Beach/Treasure Island just to the south - great area. I'm jealous!! Hope you and your friends paint lots of beautiful award winners!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzy...you know how I love to paint red...we'd probably tie if there was a contest as I know you love it too.
ReplyDeleteMary...thanks...I'll be sure to check in on Naples.
Thanks Deb...We're all really excited to get away. Especially me...from this awful summer of extreme hot weather. Fla may be hot, but it won't be the 110 like we're gonna have tomorrow...
Mollie, your crystal bowl is just wonderful ... not to mention those red, luscious strawberries! My favorite! This Texas heat is getting me down this summer, too. I hope we get some rain soon ... enough to wet the ground and cool off the air a little bit. Our sea breezes aren't cooling us this year. We've been breaking records also with those triple digits. Texas is just too darned hot and dry this summer.
ReplyDeleteMollie, you know I'm green with envy, painting with all those wonderful artists, for a week. Keep the mojitos and margueritas flowing along with your brush. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nita...yes, this summer has been almost unbearable to all of us who are used to just a little heat. The other day we were outside and the temp was around 96 and it felt like a cold wave had come through. I know Houston is just as bad as we are, but, we'll make it...we always do.
ReplyDeleteAnn...sure wish you were coming with us...we're all pretty excited about our little painting week. You can bet we'll be bending a few elbows...ha. We'll hopefully see you on skype.
I wish I could see your crystal demo. You are really good at describing crystal in your paintings. This one is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm here from Pat Elliott's blog, following this bowl! Gorgeous work! Arianna
