Lemons and Limes

This week I'm working on trying to come up with some good paintings for my summer trip to Florida with some friends from our forum PaintingFriends.  We're going to be painting silver as well as crystal and I'm just playing around with some color.  Silver can be really cool unless you're bouncing some good reflections.  This "cloth" is actually one of my shirts that had wonderful color...really matched the hues in the limes beautifully.  I always forget to check my closets when I'm looking for good cloth for setup photos.  This is actually a really small portion of a larger painting with a silver teapot...was just trying out the colors before I went much further...I think this will work just fine.

  1. What a great idea for fabric! DUH! Have a great time on your upcoming trip. Our art group will get together in August on the Carolina coast and we are making our plans now! Isn't it wonderful to have a group of friends to get together with and paint!

  2. Thanks, Deb. Yes, we went to Florida last summer and had a fabulous time. So, we are going for a rerun again. And yes, it's such fun to have a group of artist friends and actually get together and meet in person. This cyber world is amazing in bringing us all together.

  3. I never thought of looking in my closet for interesting fabrics for still life:-) Thank you for the tip, Mollie. Your fabric is gorgeous with the limes! I really like your reflections.

  4. Thanks, Christiane. Don't remember who told me about checking my closets, but I'll take credit for passing that little tidbit around. I'm always on the lookout for neat fabric for setups and I thought the colors in that shirt were perfect for this little painting. Glad to see you again.
