Blue Stripes

Here is a little painting challenge that has been done for my PaintingFriends group. Each month one of our artists posts a painting that we are to all paint in our own interpretation and post on the 20th of each month on the PF site. It's always amazing and fun to see how we each have our own take on the reference photo. This particular ref photo had turquoise FiestaWare and a cloth with orangy/red stripes that I couldn't make work to save my life. So, I added apples to the bowl, changed the color to white with blue stripes, changed the green in the stripes from Kelly to Sap...and...it turned into a fun and colorful painting.

  4. Thanks, Christiane...I'm assuming you saw that total composition on PF. It makes me crazy when I paint "mud" so was happy with being able to crop and still come out with a decent painting.

Hi Pat...wasn't this little exercise fun. Loved your take on the reference photo.

Janet...thanks for stopping by. If you had seen the total painting before I cropped it, you'd have laughed. Seems that I can make mud with the "best" of them.

  5. That PF site looks like lots of fun. I didn't know about it until reading about your references to it on a previous painting. I like your take on the painting. Mollie, everything you paint is beautiful ... red or not.
